Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers found just the right chords to strike with this independent outing with the infamous Inspector Clouseau as he romps around a murder investigation instead of bungling another caper including the fabled Pink Panther Diamond. Loosely adapted from a stage farce by none other than "Exorcist" author William Peter Blatty, this wacky, free-wheeling comedy concerns our intrepid French detective investigating the unfortunate demise of a chauffeur for a strange wealthy family headed by George Sanders. The gags and slapstick are elegantly orchestrated amidst the witty dialogue as the story offers the introductions of Herbert Lom's harried Chief Inspector Dreyfuss and Burt Kwok's karate efficient manservant Kato. One priceless laugh after another with possibly the funniest bits coming nonstop during Clouseau's disastrous attempt at playing pool, a lark through a nudist camp and the manic destruction of a climatic interrogation!
